Tonight 10 unveils its new observational series, Sydney Harbour Cops.
For the first time, viewers are taken behind the scenes of “the Mac”, which patrols Sydney Harbour, its inland waters, and the entire NSW coastline up to 200 nautical miles out to sea.
Each day is different as the Marine Area Command and the Police Dive Unit face a series of dramatic rescues and dangerous searches across Sydney’s waterways.
In tonight’s first episode, police are called to the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge to rescue a man in danger. With the situation unfolding high above the harbour, officers must work quickly to try and bring him to safety.
Meanwhile the Police Dive Unit face a dangerous search when they are tasked with finding a live grenade believed to have been thrown into a river. Searching the murky depths, the divers must carefully scour the water for the deadly device, and the grenade isn’t the only thing posing a danger.
Elsewhere, Sydney’s waterways are on alert following a series of shark attacks. As concern grows for swimmers and people enjoying the harbour, water police are called to respond and help keep the public safe.
Offering a first-hand look at the often-forgotten side of policing in the water, the series lets viewers see what goes into the wetter areas of police work.
Sometimes challenging but always informative, Sydney Harbour Cops is worth checking out.
