After two incredible Quarter Final episodes of The Voice on Seven and 7plus, eight artists secured their place in the Semi Finals: Team Richard’s Tika Cetinich (VIC) and Tommy Novak (NSW), Team Melanie C’s Taylor Beadle-Williams (NSW) and Yung Milla (NT), Team Ronan’s Leyla Sabo (VIC) and The 60Four (SA), and Team Kate’s Charlotte June (SA) and Daisha Auda (QLD).
Emotions ran high as the Coaches were forced to cut their teams in half following a series of powerful performances.
Fifteen-year-old Daisha delivered a commanding rendition of Janelle Monáe’s Tightrope, reminding audiences why Kate Miller-Heidke used her save to keep her in the competition. Ronan Keating called her stage presence “mesmerising”, while Richard Marx said she “crushed it”, even as he challenged Kate’s song choice. Kate defended the song as an opportunity to showcase a new dimension of Daisha’s artistry.
Yung Milla once again moved Melanie C to tears with his powerful performance of The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar’s Pray For Me. An emotional Melanie shared: “I can’t even explain it. There’s just something so powerful about what you represent, and it gets me every time.”
Tommy advanced to the Semi Finals with a rendition of Phil Collins’ Against All Odds. While the Coaches challenged him to bring more vulnerability to his performance, Richard backed Tommy’s growth and commitment throughout the competition, sending him through.
Charlotte’s breathtaking reimagining of Fred Again and Obongjayar’s adore u left the Coaches in awe. Richard declared: “That was the best performance we’ve had all season.”
Her Coach Kate added: “I’m so proud of you. You weave this powerful spell in the room. Breathtaking. Magnificent.”
Twelve-year-old powerhouse Leyla’s stunning rendition of Demi Lovato’s Skyscraper won her Semi Final spot. Despite questions about whether she was ready for the competition at such a young age, Leyla assured: “I’ve been singing forever. This is something I love doing, and I want to do it for the rest of my life. Yes, I’m ready,” Leyla said.
Tika’s commanding rendition of Heart’s power ballad Alone was enough to earn her a place in the Semi Finals. Praising her growth throughout the competition, Richard said: “You deserve to be standing exactly where you are.” Ronan agreed, declaring: “You have become a contender for the crown.”
The 60Four proved their versatility with a contemporary take on sombr’s 12 to 12. While Richard didn’t consider it their strongest performance, Ronan was adamant they belonged in the Semi Finals, stating: “Their voices are the best I’ve ever heard as a band on any show, anywhere.”
Taylor delivered a powerful version of Whitney Houston’s I’m Every Woman, earning praise for both her performance and artistry.
Despite exceptional performances throughout the Quarter Finals, Phoebe Rose, Jack Hughes, Victoria Knight, Jamie Koul, Wave Raiders, Cleo Paladino and Bertie Anderson were farewelled from the competition as the Coaches made their toughest decisions yet.
Next, the Semi Finalists must raise the bar once again as they battle for a coveted place in The Voice Grand Finale.
