2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships night 1 program

The biggest names in swimming go head to head on Day One of the 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, live and exclusive from 7.30pm tonight on One.

The Men’s 200m Freestyle is the event not to be missed. This race is littered with Aussie superstars including Cameron McEvoy and Commonwealth Games champion Thomas Fraser-Holmes, who will go up against Japan’s Kosuke Hagino and USA’s Conor Dwyer.


The Women’s 200m Freestyle will see Australia’s Bronte Barratt and Mel Schlanger take on one of the USA’s most formidable female swimmers, Olympic champion and fastest qualifier, Katie Ledecky.

Breaking three world records since June – in the 400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle – all eyes will be on Ledecky when she races in the 800m Freestyle tonight.

In one of the most anticipated showdowns of the 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, the women’s 100m Backstroke sees a re-match of the London Olympic final with USA gold medallist Missy Franklin taking on Australia’s silver medallist Emily Seebohm.

In the Men’s 1500m Freestyle, Aussie young gun and Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Mack Horton, is up against Commonwealth Games champion, Canadian Ryan Cochrane. Will they finish first and second as they did in Glasgow?

Network Ten’s Mel McLaughlin, Mark Howard and Lachy Reidplus two of Australia’s most decorated swimmers, Nicole Livingstone and Leisel Jones, will deliver all the analysis, action and electric atmosphere over four days of this world-class swimming competition at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.
