NINE NEWS has dominated the 2014 ratings year and has been crowned Australia’s favourite news service for the second year running.
With 40 weeks in the official ratings calendar, NINE NEWS has now won 21 weeks out of the 26 survey weeks so far this year across the 5 City Metro, putting it in an unbeatable position and awarding a ratings victory for 2014.
Having regained ratings supremacy last year, NINE NEWS continues to be Australia’s most watched news service as viewers vote emphatically with their remote controls in choosing NINE as their most trusted source of news.
NINE NEWS (6.00pm – 6.30pm) is averaging 1.158 million viewers each weeknight in 2014, compared to Seven News (6pm – 6.30pm) which has an average weeknight audience of 1.129 million (down 6.3% year-on-year) – an average lead of 29,000 viewers each weeknight.
In a year when NINE was first to launch a one-hour news service, NINE NEWS 6.30 (6.30pm – 7.00pm) has also dominated the year, having won 22 from 26 ratings survey weeks when compared to Seven’s half-hour split programming of Seven News (6.30pm – 7.00pm) in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and Today Tonight (6.30pm – 7.00pm) in Adelaide and Perth.
NINE NEWS 6.30 is averaging 1.078 million viewers each weeknight in 2014, compared to Seven News/Today Tonight which has an average weeknight audience of 1.037 million – an average lead of 42,000 viewers each weeknight.
