Gianni and Zana’s Montenegrin menu outshines the lacklustre efforts served up by Queenslanders Cheryl and Matt
Just one point shy of the highest-ever MKR instant restaurant score was more than enough to save Gianni and Zana in tonight’s episode of My Kitchen Rules.
The highly-opinionated lawyers from Melbourne secured a top of the table score of 97 out of 110 – just one point behind Eva and Debra’s highest-ever instant restaurant score of 98 last year – to send Queensland lovebirds Cheryl and Matt home following their disastrous night in the kitchen during episode three.
Gianni and Zana wowed the judges with their entree of Albanian pita with beetroot hummus and main of crumbed calves livers with Albanian peppers, scoring 10’s for both courses from Pete Evans and Manu Feildel.
The couple’s dessert – Krofne with Hazelnut Ganache – also won praise from the judges with each scoring it 8 out of 10.
By comparison, last night’s eliminated team Cheryl and Matt accrued just 31/110 for their kitchen efforts which left their guests hungry and underwhelmed. (But above the lowest-ever score of 27 recorded by 2014 gate crashers David and Corrine.)
“I feel a bit sad,” says Cheryl of their MKR-ending score of 31/110. “But we respect your opinion and your views and what you have to offer to help us to be better at cooking so thank you for your feedback, we do appreciate it.”
Tomorrow night, six new teams will join Pete and Manu on a cross country gastronomical tour. Group 2 are:
Alex & Gareth – QUEENSLAND
Luciano & Martino – NSW
Tasia & Gracia – VICTORIA
Nelly & JP – QUEENSLAND
Nev & Kell – WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Jessica & Marcos – VICTORIA
My Kitchen Rules airs Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 7.00pm
