Tonight, Foxtel returns to Wentworth, but given the sentence was originally meant to end last season, is it worth all the hype?
When we left our favourite prison, a siege had taken place which shook the prison to its core and saw Vera (Kate Anderson) give birth to baby Grace. And who could forget the shocking revelation that Joan “The Freak” Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) was, in fact, alive and well despite being buried alive at the end of season five.
Now, picking up three months on from the Siege, Vera is still on leave and Will (Robbie Magasiva) is Governor. There’s a new general manager in the forms of Ann Reynolds (Jane Hall), who’s determined to bring new changes to the prison and put it back together following the traumatic events of last season.
Stepping into Wentworth is former top-dog Lou Kelly (Kate Box) and her partner Rebel “Reb” Keane (Zoe Terakes), who are bound to make an impact with their shock arrival at Wentworth. The two couldn’t be more different and it will be interesting to see these new characters integrate into the ensemble moving forward.
How will Allie (Kate Jenkinson) cope as top-dog and just what will happen now that Joan is back? There’s a lot to unpack in the opening hour, so you’ll have to tune in to see how everything unfolds.
Aptly titled ‘Resurrection’, the premiere, penned by Pete McTighe, sets the stage for a thrilling penultimate chapter. There’s a lot to love here and the hype is 100% deserved.
Brace yourselves, because your Wentworth sentence isn’t over yet and it packs all the punches.
