The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team review

Sports fans rejoice – Amazon Prime Video will release its first Australia Original Doco, The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team tomorrow.

The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team focuses on Australia’s national sporting hero’s – the Australian men’s cricket team. The Test tells the story of a broken team in the aftermath of the infamous ball-tampering scandal in March 2018, which saw captain Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner, and fellow player Cameron Bancroft suspended, and coach Darren Lehmann resign.

A new era of cricket began with the appointment of Justin Langer as coach in May 2018, and this is where this docuseries begins as we follow one of the nation’s most sacred sports crews as they attempt to recover their reputation and the respect of the nation and the world.

Throughout the eight-episode series, filmed over 18 months and narrated by Brendan Cowell, we follow the team as they go through a five-match One-Day International Series against Australia’s oldest rival, England, to the 2019 Ashes Series. Along the way, we are given unprecedented access to the team meetings and post match locker room moments.

Viewers will also be given insights into player thought processes, with interviews given by Justin Langer, Arron Finch, Tim Payne, Peter Siddle, Nathan Lyon, Travis Head and Steve Waugh, just to name a few.

Directed, written and created by Adrian Brown, The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team is an insightful story that isn’t just for the cricket tragics out there. Nothing is sugar coated as we follow the fallout of a scandal that shocked the world in this story of hope, hard work and the power of resilience.

Don your baggy green because The Test has something for everyone, regardless of what you think, or know, about cricket.
