Tonight it’s a double room reveal, a kid’s bedroom, and a re-do room, with a massive $20,000 up for grabs, and the pressure to deliver is sending everyone loopy. Could it be second time lucky for their re-do rooms or is it a big miss and will the secret gnome come into play.
This week has been a week of battles which all started with a dirty bowl, House 2 Chantel and Wyatt retaliated with their own note and a text message to House 4 Courtney and Sev letting them know that everyone was ripping into them about their 10’s, Sev got upset and Lisa was caught in the firing line. The ultimate battle was the Domain Buyer’s Jury and Listing challenge, House 1 Adam and Jolene were the victors, and they won $50,000 but more battles were sparked and questions were raised what is inspiration and what is copying? Do House 2 Chantel and Wyatt have a secret buyer? And will House 4 Courtney and Sev get their rooftop terrace approved and deliver the final Block knockout? It’s certainly been a week, and it is not over yet.
It’s Saturday morning and 24 hours until kids’ bedroom and re-do room reveal and the last week they are working on the interiors of the house. On top of the sponsors and Block Bucks Scott suggested a cash budget of $20,000 to deliver this week’s room the only designated kid’s bedroom on top of that Domain threw the Blockheads an additional $10,000 each to re-do room which didn’t go well with the judges the first time around. All that on top of Domain Buyer’s Jury and Listing challenge and preparing for the upcoming weeks outside.
Sunday morning arrives and a special visitor arrives on The Block Dan and Dani’s baby Fletcher. Scott calls tools down and judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox arrive on site. At Judging and winner announce Scott announces this week’s prize is a big one a Kinsman kitchen to the value of $50,000, wine from Levantine Hill valued at $10,000, a year’s supply of Arnott’s biscuits and if that isn’t enough $10,000 of flooring from Flooring Xtra to be added to the Plungie prize pool tipping the total over $400,000. Scott then announces the $10,000 CommBank Better Budgeting Award goes to House 2 Chantel and Wyatt.
Judges feedback: House 1 Adam and Jolene the judges stepped into your room today and were disappointed not to see a kid’s bedroom and question the design without any built-in wardrobes. Into the re-do room week one guest room and they feel not much has changed it is another lazy room ouch their budget estimate was $13,800.00 and cash spend $16,734.34. House 2 Chantel and Wyatt on entry the judges are once again annoyed they have missed the kid’s bedroom brief and feel the styling is a bit lazy, nothing matches it is a big miss the annoyance increases tenfold when in the re-do living and dining they discover they haven’t taken their advice to flip the room to take in the view. Marty calls them “Ask Holes” they ask for advice and you give to them and it goes down the hole. Budget estimate $14,000 cash spend $14,319.10.
House 3 Lisa and Rosco and the judges are thrilled to see a kid’s bedroom everything here is simple, but you think kid’s bedroom that they can grow into being an adult. They love the thought that has gone into the wardrobe design and consistent style, colour and texture palette. Into the guest suite re-do room the success continues they think it is one of the nicest bedrooms on The Block a big success. Budget estimate $16,395.44 cash spend $14,016.33. House 4 Courtney and Sev the judges certainly found a kid’s bedroom it’s the first room they’ve seen on The Block that has colour and it is perfectly executed, they love the CSR sound style wave bedhead and the attention to detail, it is the one percenter’s that set them apart. Into the re-do living, and dining and they shout yes from no fireplace to one of the best and note the mirror in the exact same position as House 1. Budget estimate $12,255.15 and cash spend $11,920.00
House 5 Rick and Tayla on entry the judges note no door handle, they like the like the Grafico pampas grass wallpaper and agree it is a successful tween room but feel it is forgettable and unfinished and they don’t understand a pendant light with a lamp underneath. Into the re-do living, dining and alfresco and they are pleased there is much less of a dance floor on display they love the artwork and the change in couch but feel it is half done. Budget estimate$11,984.70 cash spend $11,523.00.
