Last night saw real life ex-couple and dance partners Kathaleen Fisher and Thabang Baloy exit the dance floor.
Kathaleen and Thabang found themselves in the bottom six, along with Stephen Perez, Nadiah Idris, Joel Rasmussen and Zoey Black following last week’s first performance show. Tonight all six danced for their lives, showcasing the very best they have to offer. The judges then made the final decision on who to send home.
For the second week in a row, Kathaleen and Thabang performed routines in their own genre of ballroom, which failed to impress both the judges and Australia. Ballroom guru and judge Jason Gilkison said about Kathaleen’s performance: “We were expecting so much more, but you just flat lined and it all fell apart.” On Thabang’s routine this week, Shannon said: “The performance felt vacant and we didn’t feel the emotional connection.”
It was a night of stand out performances with not only one, but three standing ovations. Jazz and contemporary dancers Zoey Black and Sam Malseed took out the performance of the night, with a routine that brought host Carrie Bickmore and judge Aaron Cash to tears.
The departure of the shows only ballroom couple means that there will be a new partnership taking to the floor next Sunday in ip of ballerina Maddie Peat and jazz dancer Chris Tsattalios
So You Think You Can Dance Australia, airs 7.30pm, Sundays on TEN.
