Sam makes his final choice

Last night The Bachelor came to a close with a few surprises,

Sam introduced Lana and Snezana to his family and planned one last date for each before he faced the biggest decision of his life.

Sam made a promise to himself that he would follow his heart, knowing it would take him to the right place. But first , it was time for Lana and Snezana to meet his family.

Sam’s father Andrew, his sister Hannah and his brother Alex flew to Sydney from their Tasmanian home to meet the lucky ladies Sam had chosen as the final two. Snezana and Lana were understandably nervous, but after the introductions, both Bachelorettes impressed the family in their own individual ways.

Snezana brought tears to Andrew’s eyes as they discussed Sam’s late mother and Snezana’s daughter Eve. Hannah was blown away by Lana, letting Sam know that he could not have chosen two more amazing girls.

With his family’s tick of approval, Sam arranged his final dates for Snezana and Lana before he faced the difficult decision. Lana, a self-professed romantic, was picked up in a helicopter bound for the Blue Mountains. After a a rowboat trip and champagne, the cosy couple retired to a campfire to toast marshmallows and discuss their journey so far.

Lana described the day as enchanted and magical, and was terrified to say goodbye in case she was about to have her heart broken. While she hoped for a real life fairytale, she knew that Sam had a huge decision to make.

Snezana’s date with Sam began with a sexy red sports car and a country estate. As they fed each other strawberries on a private beach, Snezana worked up the courage to tell Sam that she had fallen in love with him.

After two of the most perfect dates, Sam knew he had built special, unique relationships with both.

Back at the mansion, Sam anxiously awaited the arrival of the Bachelorettes. When Lana arrived first he told her wholeheartedly that she was the perfect girl – crazy, fun and full of adventure – but unfortunately not for him.

After a big hug, a deflated Lana left the courtyard. Hiding from the cameras, she took a moment to compose herself and left the mansion brokenhearted.

Lana, 27, a communications assistant from Sydney, said: “I think I am feeling a little bit numb right now. To fall for someone so quickly and so intensely, and then it all be cut off so quickly, is really quite painful. I am sad that it’s over because I feel like it could have been the start. But it’s the end.”

Both sad and relieved, Sam moved on to the moment he had been waiting for. When Snezana arrived at the mansion he knew it felt right and that this was the moment that they would start their future together.

After an emotional declaration of love, Sam gave Snezana a diamond friendship ring and thanked her for being an amazing person. The happy couple intimately embraced.

Snezana, 34, a scientific sales rep from Perth, said: “I have found true love and it feels amazing. It feels better than anything in the world.”

Sam, 35, said: “I feel like now is just the beginning for Snezana and I,and I can definitely see us spending the rest of our lives together.”
