Networks confirm rolling coverage following death of Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest reigning monarch, died peacefully overnight at the age of 96.

Nine and Seven have confirmed comprenshive coverage for tonight.

Nine
Regular programming has been suspended as we celebrate the amazing life and incredible legacy of Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II.
 
Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon will continue to host a special extended edition of Today until 12.00pm today.
 
From midday until 3.00pm, Sylvia JeffreysDavid Cambbell and Jayne Azzopardi will be joined by a roll-call of royal experts and prominent political figures as we look back on a reign that prevailed across 70 years and 214 days and saw the appointment of 16 Australian Prime Ministers.
 
Georgie Gardner and Tom Steinfort will take over hosting duties from 3.00pm until 6.00pm, just as Britain wakes to its first full day with King Charles III as its new ruler.
 
At 6.00pm, state-based editions of 9News will cross to our team of correspondents at Buckingham Palace and across the UK as we gauge the mood of a world grieving the death of Her Majesty.
 
Tracy Grimshaw will present a special one-hour edition of A Current Affair at 7.00pm (on 9Gem in NSW and QLD, with Victoria moving to 9Gem at 7.30pm due to NRL Finals coverage).
 
From 8.00pm until midnight, Sarah Abo and Peter Overton will continue to host our rolling coverage on Channel 9 and 9Gem and will take a look around the globe at the outpouring of love and tributes for Queen Elizabeth II (NRL coverage will be broadcast on Channel 9 in NSW, QLD and Victoria).
 
Dougal Beatty and Davina Smith will broadcast from midnight until 5.00am Saturday.
 
An extended special edition of Weekend Today will then air until midday Saturday, hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon. Joining them will be a host of royal experts including Camilla Tominey and Dickie Arbiter.
 
From midday Saturday, Sylvia Jeffreys and David Campbell will take over hosting duties for the afternoon.

From 10.00am Saturday, Sylvia JeffreysDavid Campbell and Jayne Azzopardi will take over hosting duties until 2.00pm.
 
Georgie Gardner and Tom Steinfort will then present our rolling coverage from 2.00pm until 4.00pm Saturday.
 
At 4.00pm tomorrow, each state capital will broadcast a special one-hour edition of 9News.
 
From 5.00pm tomorrow, NRL Finals Footy will be broadcast into NSW, QLD and Victoria, while WA and SA will resume regular programming, including 9News at 6.00pm and A Current Affair at 7.00pm.
 
At 10.30pm Saturday night, Peter Overton will take the helm and provide viewers with the very latest developments in the aftermath of the Queen’s passing.
 
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11
From midnight Saturday until 5.00am Sunday, Davina Smith and Dougal Beatty will host continuous overnight coverage.
 
Sylvia JeffreysDavid Campbell and Jayne Azzopardi will be on air from 5.00am with another special extended edition of Weekend Today.
 
From 10.00am until 1.00pm Sunday, our regular Sunday sports programming will be broadcast.
 
At 1.00pm Sunday, Georgie Gardner and Tom Steinfort will resume hosting our ongoing tribute to the Queen’s long reign.
 
NRL Finals Footy will be broadcast into NSW, QLD and Victoria from 3.00pm, while WA and SA will return to regular programming.
 
At 6.00pm Sunday, state-based editions of 9News will air in each capital city.
 
The Block will be broadcast in all markets from 7.00pm until 8.30pm.
 
At 8.30pm in a special edition of 60 Minutes Tara Brown will profile King Charles III, the man who’s spent his entire life preparing for the role he has now inherited. But while his commitment to public service is unquestioned, Charles is also a controversial and at times divisive figure. So, does he have what it takes to be King?
 
From 9.30pm, we will broadcast 9News Presents: Elizabeth – A Family Tribute. Narrated by King Charles III this personal documentary features the family of the late monarch reflecting on her incredible life.

Join Channel 7 as the network continues its historic commemoration of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and the proclamation of her heir, King Charles III tonight; across the weekend; and leading up to, and including, her funeral next week.

Mourning the loss of Australia’s longest-serving Monarch, 7NEWS will deliver extended bulletins, from 6.00pm Friday in all capital cities; before returning to special rolling coverage from 7.30pm (7.00pm in Adelaide) and right through until Weekend Sunrise, from 5.00am AEST on Saturday, 10 September on Channel 7 and 7plus.

The Queen’s sudden demise at 96 has been felt deeply around the world, with 7NEWS televising reaction from world leaders, her Commonwealth subjects and more intimately, from her Royal family members.

Programming changes to accommodate the breaking royal news continue tonight, with Better Homes and Gardens to make way for special tributes on 7NEWS: The Death of Queen Elizabeth II.
