Neighbours Farewells Our Favourite Cop

Neighbours Farewells Our Favourite Cop

Tonight, Neighbours farewells a character who’s made their Mark in Erinsborough.

We are of course, talking about the, at times, polarising character Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor). Last night viewers were left in shock when Mark revealed he would be leaving Erinsborough, for good, to look after his mother Fay (Zoe Bertram), whose Huntington’s Disease has worsened.

Tonight, with Mark’s departure on the horizon, Aaron (Matt Wilson) and David (Takaya Honda) encourage him to at least have a proper farewell with everyone on the street. But Mark reveals that while he’s committed to supporting Fay as her condition worsens, he believes his life needs a new direction. He’s devastated to leave Ramsay Street, but can’t bring himself to say goodbye to everyone. But fear not, we will get those farewells in a surprising way and it’s a joy to see.

Executive Producer Jason Herbison pens tonight’s departure to a long-term resident with a nod to the past while also giving Mark an exit he deserves. Even if his final scene felt a little unnecessary. Love him or hate him, Mark has been a big part of Erinsborough for the past nine years. It’s hard not to get emotional as we say goodbye.

Scott McGregor also deserves some praise for all the wonderful performances he has delivered throughout the years. If this is the last time we see of Mark, it’s a nice farewell for a character who will leave a big hole in the Ramsay Street landscape moving forward.

A Neighbours departure which can’t be missed, 6:30pm on 10Peach.
