Neighbours death that will have a lasting impact  (Spoiler Warning)

It’s been a big few weeks for Sonya and Toadie on Neighbours, but the ride isn’t over yet in this must-watch episode.

Tonight, Neighbours airs a very special and emotionally-charged two-hander episode, focusing solely on our favourite Rebecchis. Sonya (Eve Morey) and Toadie (Ryan Moloney) head off on a road trip to meet their children at a beach house for a much-needed weekend away.

With Sonya’s Ovarian Cancer constantly at the front of their minds, they plan to take a break away from the street and spend time as a family. Little do they know, this will be Sonya’s last day on earth.

Stopping at the hospital for a routine check-up, Sonya is told the devastating news – the cancer has spread to her brain and she doesn’t have long left. Not wanting to worry Toadie or the kids, she is determined to enjoy the precious time she has left with her family, deciding to keep the news to herself.

But her health drastically declines over the course of the day and tragedy strikes.

The tear-inducing half-hour, written by Executive Producer Jason Herbison, is a true masterclass as it weaves through a range of emotions. Topping that is the brilliant direction from Kate Kendall, allowing Ryan and Eve their chance to shine one last time as the much-loved duo.

Although it has been an absolutely heartbreaking storyline, Eve, Ryan and all involved are to be commended on bringing Ovarian Cancer to the forefront and raising awareness for the silent killer, especially during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in February. Eve’s performance, in particular, has been absolutely amazing, and it will be sad to see her talent’s leave our screens.

There will not be a dry eye in the house as Neighbours delivers a truly iconic episode that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Neighbours airs at 6:30pm on 10Peach
