Neighbours Celebrates International Men’s Day

Tonight, Neighbours marks International Men’s Day. But how do you get the whole male cast together? The answer may surprise you.

It all began when Mackeznie (Georgie Stone) got work that Richie (Lachie Miller) had been propositioned by Corinne (Maddy Leane). This prompted Harlow (Jemma Donovan) to pull out of Schoolies in solidatity. Meanwhile the rest of the teens, consisting of Richie, Hendrix (Benjamin Turland) and Ollie (Ellmir Aspip), can’t wait to start partying, with new arrival Jay (Dhruv Malge) tagging along too.

Arriving at Schoolies, the boys are ready to let loose. But things take a turn when Hendrix finds out about ‘The Ladder’, an app that the boys at school are using the rank their female classmates. Ollie shows so much disrespect for the girls that Hendrix feels compelled to take a stand, but will the message get through?

Back on Ramsay Street, Paul (Stefan Dennis), David (Takaya Honda) and Aaron (Matt Wilson) are discussing Nicolette’s (Charlote Chimes) recent surrogacy offer when Pierce (Don Hany) arrives, sourcing transport since Hendrix has stolen his car. Together, the four set off for the campground.

Shane (Nicholas Coghlan) is not far behind with Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Toadie (Ryan Maloney), who are on their way after Pierce gives a heads up of his intent to travel. Soon, all the men of Ramsay Street are in the one location, and anything could happen…

What transpires is a very special episode, penned by Executive Producer Jason Herbison, that tackles toxic masculinity, toxic male behaviour and men’s mental health within the show’s current storylines, making it all feel very much in place.

The all-male cast deliver some amazing work here and props must be given to Director Scott Major for showcasing it all so beautifully.

There’s drama aplenty in this instalment, so don’t miss it!

Neighbours airs weeknights at 6:30pm on 10Peach.

So did the all-women episode deal with “toxic femininity” of women being awful to each other and treating men like wallets?
