Mike Munro Joins Ten Eyewitness News

Network Ten has announced that Mike Munro  is joining  the network.

He will join the network as presenter of the national TEN Eyewitness News weekend bulletin.

Network Ten’s Director of News, Sydney, John Choueifate, said the hiring of Mr Munro was a major coup for TEN and underlined the network’s commitment to investing in its News programs and investing in industry-best talent, on and off screen.

Mike  Munro has a long list of television credits which includes work on Nine’s 60 Minutes and most recently as a co host of Seven’s Sunday Night

Mr Munro said: “Joining TEN is like coming home. After having started as a copy boy in newspapers, where I stayed for seven years, TEN was my first job in television as a 25- year-old.

“And then, after a number of years as a newspaper correspondent in New York, I returned to TEN in 1982, when the spark for television was really ignited. It was at TEN where I learned the difference in writing styles between newspapers and TV. There is no doubt that because of TEN, I fell in love with television journalism.

“My new role as Weekend Presenter of TEN Eyewitness News comes at a time when Hamish McLennan, and all his team at TEN, are making great progress in lifting the quality, impact and performance of the network’s News bulletins across the day and at night,” he said.

Mr Choueifate said: “I’ve known Mike for many years and he is one of the best in the business. “Over the past 40 years he has covered major news events here and overseas for television and newspapers, building a reputation as a thorough, relentless, tough and fair reporter and presenter.

“Mike brings a wealth of experience to TEN. The TEN News and Current Affairs content and team is improving all the time and Mike is a very important addition,” he said

Mr Munro will present his first bulletin for TEN on February 9.
