Later this month Max will provide an intimate look at one of Australia’s biggest bands the Hoodoo Gurus
MAX Presents: Hoodoo Gurus , is an unforgettable musical and visual feast showcasing the four different incarnations of the Hoodoo Gurus as they perform all their hit songs from the ground breaking Stoneage Romeos to the current day.
Late last year, all past and present band members gathered for a unique concert event at Scarborough Beach, W.A. and “Be My Guru: The Evolution Revolution concert” was born. The unique concert event was then reincarnated as part of this year’s Vivid Festival in Sydney and was shot exclusively for MAX.
MAX Presents: Hoodoo Gurus provides fans an intimate view of the iconic band with backstage access and interviews with all band members, past and present. In a television first, the show culminates with all band members on stage together performing a mammoth tribal version of the band’s first single, Leilani, with all eight musicians playing two drum kits, two bass guitars and four electric guitars.
The show also marks a poignant moment showcasing the band’s final concert with drummer Mark Kingsmill announcing his intention to retire from the band after more than 30 years together.
With a career spanning over 30 years, the Hoodoo Gurus are an iconic band cemented in Australian music history and the hearts of music lovers across the country.
