The challenge is a 10 hour build where they will be creating a song title out of LEGO, the winner of which will win the Titanium Brick that will keep them safe if the next build is an elimination.
As well as our usual criteria of aesthetics, technical ability and storytelling, the contestants will have the added challenge of a musical mystery guest coming to guess what song they have built, and they are not allowed to say a word. The bricks have to do the talking.
As the current holders of the Titanium Brick, Lexi and Rachel are safe if today’s build is an elimination but they also receive a special power. They get to delegate the songs to each team as they come out of the juke box.
With Lexi’s love of characters, they decide to take “Heard it through the Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye and build a great character in a vineyard.
“Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin is given to Joss and Henry who are stoked and decide to build a winding staircase around a magical waterfall from heaven.
Trent and Paul are given the Beatles classic “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and are attempting to build their first motor and make the diamond rotate in the sky.
Branko and Max are given “It’s a long way to the top if you want to Rock n Roll” by ACDC and have decided to build a long and windy path around a boring industrial building.
Alex and Caleb are given another song by an Australia Icon “Sitting on top of the world” by Delta Goodrem and are taking the challenge of making a large round globe out of square bricks.
Nick and Gene are given one of the toughest songs “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins and have a difficult build ahead of them as they have to make sure they steer the Mystery guesser away from any other song including highways.
Andrew and Crystal are very excited as they are given “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple and want to incorporate the building the song is inspired by, the burning Hotel. The question is will that help or hinder guessing the correct song?
Kirsti and Dan are given “River Deep, Mountain High” by Tina Turner and are barely holding back their excitement. But the song is a lot more difficult than they suspect as it’s a lot of work to go both deep and high with LEGO and they may have bitten off more than they can chew.
Times up and all the contestants think Hamish is up to his old tricks and it will be him coming through the doors in a ridiculous costume, but they are shocked when none other than Delta Goodrem walks in.
Delta is able to guess “Stairway to Heaven”, “Heard it through the Grapevine”, “It’s a long way to the top if you want to Rock n Roll”, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and her own song “Sitting on top of the world”. Unfortunately, she was unable to guess both Andrew and Crystal and Kirsti and Dan, both teams learned an important lesson in making the story crystal clear. Nick and Gene are very stressed Delta will be unable to guess their difficult song but with her last guess she gets it.
Nick and Gene and Lexi and Rachael are the top two builds of the day but because of the difficulty of the song and the details they have put into their build, Brickman awards Nick and Gene their first Titanium Brick.
