Kick Like Talya Review

On Friday, Prime Video continues its great run of sport documentaries with Kick Like Tayla.

Kick Like Tayla tells the story of Tayla Harris, from her humble beginnings where she was taught to be kind, to her career as a dual-sporting superstar.

Through the 55-minute documentary, we learn Tayla’s story, from what it was like to be a marquee player for the Brisbane Lions in the inaugural AFLW season in 2017, and her trade to Carlton and then Melbourne, to the social media reaction and fallout to that iconic photo.

As an Australian boxing champion, we also get to see how the sport has helped Tayla both on and off the field. Throughout the documentary we also get a deep insight from parents Warren and Lisa, former Swan Brandon Jack, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan, General Manager of Woman’s Football Nicole Livingstone, Tayla’s agent Alex Saundry, and fellow AFLW players Kodi Jacques and Daisy Pearce, just to name a few.

The documentary gives an unfiltered look at one of Australia’s brightest sports stars, the challenging role social media plays when yi, and how Tayla overcame severe trolling and abuse to always stick her motto to ‘be kind’.

A thought-provoking and compelling documentary, Kick Like Tayla is one documentary that no one should miss.
