Neighbours is kicking off their penultimate week and farewell tour with a much-loved returnee.
Home from their time in Queensland, Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Susan (Jackie Woodburne) are confronted by how closed-off Mackenzie (Georgie Stone) is. They encourage her to clear the air with her dad, after having told him to leave Erinsborough, but she has no desire to. Little do they know that the surprise arrival of Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) is just around the corner.
Last seen during the 30th anniversary celebrations in 2015, Harold drops into No. 28 unannounced to check on his old friends and neighbours after hearing about Hendrix’s death. What transpires over the hour is a return full of nods to the past while also moving a lot of the story forward.
Just how long Harold is around for isn’t clear, but the double episode sets the stage for Harold to be right in the thick of many plots, including his apprehension of Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Melanie’s (Lucinda Cowden) relationship.
Penned by Holly Tossi and Jo Kasch, this is the perfect time to head back to the hood as we prepare to say farewell to our beloved neighbours.
