Dream Productions Review
SLUMBER AWARD -- In Pixar Animation Studios’ all-new series “Dream Productions,” the production studio inside Riley’s mind was inspired by real-life film studios—right down to the awards. The new series features the voices of Ally Maki as Janelle, Paula Pell as Paula and Richard Ayoade as Xeni. Written and directed by Mike Jones and produced by Jaclyn Simon, Pixar Animation Studios’ hilarious, mockumentary-style series streams exclusively on Disney+ beginning Dec. 11, 2024. © 2024 Disney/Pixar. Disney+ has stepped back into the Inside Out world with Dream Productions.

For those needing a refresher, Dream Productions is the factory inside Riley’s mind where dreams do come true—every night, on time, and on a budget. Riley (Kensington Tallman) is growing up, and when her memories need some extra processing, Joy (Amy Poehler) and the rest of the Core Emotions send them to Dream Productions.

Dream Productions is overseen by Jean (Maya Rudolph), and she has the huge responsibility of overseeing the directors and making sure everything runs smoothly. But her main priority is Riley and the dreams the team creates. There’s acclaimed dream director Paula Pell (Paula Persimmon), who faces a nightmare of her own in trying to create the next hit dream; assistant Janelle (Ally Maki) is trying to help Paula with her quest; meanwhile overconfident daydream director Xeni (Richard Ayoade) is getting in the way while trying to advance to the night shift.

Told in a mockumentary style, Dream Productions takes a look inside the factory over four instalments. Written by Mike Jones, the series is a wonderful interquel and addition to one of Pixar’s most popular franchises, and is full of heart, Pixar magic, rich characters, and surprises.

Take a trip to Dream Productions and get an inside look at where the dream magic is made.
