Australia’s First Chance at a Daytime Emmy

Exclusive You may not have heard the name Bianca Moon but there is a chance you have heard her music if you watch The Bold and the Beautiful.

Bianca who is from Sydney composed a song at the age 17 entitled Sunflower is up for a Daytime Emmy for a song she composed for the daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful that airs on TEN. She is the first Australian to ever be nominated for a Daytime Emmy and the youngest solo nominee at 24 years of age.

Even more inspiring is her story. Bianca was born with craniofacial disfigurement bletharophimosis, a condition which required 4 facial reconstructions and 2 lots of Neuro Surgery performed by Dr. Charlie Teo. It was through singer Cher’s advice to ‘be the change she wishes to see in the world’ that she then went on to start her own charity ‘The Moonlight Foundation’ for kids with Facial Differences, which has now raised over $55,000 and Moon herself became a finalist in the Young Australian of the Year Awards in 2007 . That same year, Bianca met Katherine Kelly Lang who plays Brooke on The Bold and the Beautiful who passed her music on to executive producer Brad Bell.

Bianca’s song ‘Sunflower’ was used in an episode that aired in May in the U.S. Since appearing on the show Bianca went on to meet Dolly Parton and spent time in Nashville recording songs with Dolly’s guitarist and producer, Grammy Award nominee Kent Wells for her first EP ‘Dead End Road’.

The Daytime Emmys will be handed out next weekend in the US. For a look at the song that scored her this nomination head to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J43h2Ew9W7w
