Amazon Prime Video today announced the premiere date for the Australian Amazon Original series, LOL: Last One Laughing along with a first look that reveals a star-studded cast of Australian comedians.
The reality comedy competition, produced in conjunction with Endemol Shine Australia, is hosted and executive produced by Australian actress, writer and producer Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect, The Hustle, Isn’t It Romantic) and features leading Australian comedic actors Dilruk Jayasinha, Frank Woodley, Nazeem Hussain, Anne Edmonds, Ed Kavalee, Becky Lucas, Joel Creasey, Nick Cody, Sam Simmons and Susie Youssef. The six-part series follows the group of talented comics all competing to make each other laugh first and the final comedian left standing wins the grand prize of AUD$ 100,000.
LOL: Last One Laughing is executive produced by Marty Benson and David McDonald, which was shot in Spring 2019, and filmed non-stop to capture the hilarious action and banter from Wilson and the Australian comedians who bring diverse comedic styles to the table, from stand-up, character, improvisational and physical comedy with the occasional prop cameo.
The show follows the format of the successful Amazon Original series from Japan, HITOSHI MATSUMOTO Presents Documental, produced by and starring comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto who leads ten comedians betting their own money in an anything goes “battle of laughter behind closed doors”. The format was also launched in Mexico with comedian Eugenio Derbez as the laugh-house’s host. The series in Japan and Mexico are customer favourites and are currently on their seventh and second seasons, respectively.
LOL: Last One Laughing launches on June 19 with two episodes weekly till July 3
