MasterChef Australia Welcomes Prince Charles Tonight

In what continues to be a season full of surprises, and in a MasterChef world first,His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales makes his cooking competition show debut as part of tonight’s team challenge episode.

The Prince of Wales will join the MasterChef Australia judges Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris to set the nine remaining contestants a challenge to cater a reception for 150 guests.

In what promises to be a day that the contestants will never forget, they arrive in Darwin and are charged with cooking a canapé menu that could only be made in Australia, using native flavourings, indigenous ingredients and local produce.

Each team is to make a minimum of four types of canapés – one savoury, one vegetarian, one gluten-free and one halal – with a minimum of 450 bite-size canapés to be prepared in total. They have three-and-a-half hours and the team that makes the best canapés will be safe, with the other two teams facing elimination.
