Yaga Review

Yaga Review

For the spooky season fans, Binge dropped the spooky and spicy Yaga.

A reference to the Slavic legend of Baba Yaga, an ancient witch the supposedly feeds on the bones of children, Yaga follows private investigator Charlie Rapp (Noah Reid) as he arrives at a sprawling mansion. Looking into the mysterious disappearance of billionaire heir Henry (Hudson Williams), the police offer full cooperation, pairing Charlie with detective Carson (Clark Backo), his polar opposite.

Carson just thinks that Henry is simply travelling and not missing at all, but there’s a whole host of small-town characters that make Charlie think there’s way more to this disappearance then meets the eye.

There’s Henry’s roommate Logan (also Hudson Williams), a spitting image of Henry save for a prosthetic leg; Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss), his suspicious professor; and Pam (Ezra Franky), his secretive ex-girlfriend.

The first two episodes provided for this review set the stage and give all leads the chance to shine. Kat Sandler adapts her own stage play into short 30-minute instalments that are perfect for anyone looking to fall into a mystery.

3.5 Stars

Yaga is streaming on Binge and Foxtel On Demand, with new episodes every Friday at 6pm, culminating in a double episode finale on 27 November.
