World Movies with Margaret begins in February

Foxtel Movies Masterpiece brings you some of the best films from all over the globe with iconic Australian movie host Margaret Pomeranz and World Movies every Wednesday from next month.

The World Movies with Margaret night will see Pomeranz introduce and offer critical insights into a range of compelling and entertaining titles from the World Movies stable starting with The Wave (2015) from Norway on February 7 and followed each week by the Brazilian film Rio, I Love You (2014), Polish film The Here After (2015), French film Death In Sarajevo (2016), with more titles to be added weekly.

Foxtel Movies Masterpiece has already begun screening the world’s best foreign-language films every Wednesday at 8.30pm and tonight will air the Academy Award winning Italian film, Life is Beautiful (1997).

In addition, starting from Thursday February 1, more than 100 of the best from World Movies will be available On Demand to Foxtel Movies subscribers at no additional cost, these films will also be available to watch on the Foxtel Movies Masterpiece channel or to stream on Foxtel Now.

World Movies On Demand titles include Embrace of the Serpent and Truman, along with popular films from renowned auteurs such as Julieta directed by Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar; Ali: Fear Eats The SoulLove Is Colder Than DeathBeware Of A Holy Whore, and World On A Wire all directed by German filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder; HeartbeatsI Killed My Mother, and Laurence Anyways all directed by Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan; Aguirre Wrath of GodFitzcarraldo, and The Enigma Of Kaspar Hauser, all directed by German filmmaker Werner Herzog; Days of Being Wild from Chinese director Wong Kar Wai; Branded To KillTokyo DrifterGate Of Flesh, and Youth Of The Beast all directed by Japan’s Seijun Suzuki; and many more.

World Movies with Margaret will begin airing Wednesdays at 8.30pm from February 7 on Foxtel Movies Masterpiece (channel 402) and World Movies On Demand will be available on Foxtel from February 1 available at no additional cost for Foxtel movies subscribers, and will replace the linear World Movies channel from January 31, 2018.
