Wheel Of Fortune Australia Review

Tonight 10 revived a classic game show in Wheel Of Fortune.

The much-loved game show, which originally aired for 25 years, is back on our screens after a 16 year absence, with an updated format and a new host in Graham Norton.

Wheel Of Fortune Australia has a delightful mixture of speed puzzles, in which the player with the fastest reactions and sharpest mind can win big, and the main puzzles where spinning the wheel, calling the correct letter, and solving the word mix can lead to even more prizes.

In each episode, three contestants face-off in at least six standard puzzle rounds, with  a toss-up round before the first, third, fourth and sixth puzzles. Each toss-up consists of three puzzles worth $500 for the first two rounds and $1000 for the last two rounds. The toss-up is all about speed as contestants race to become the first person to solve the puzzle as letters begin to fill the blanks.

In the main puzzle rounds, contestants spin the wheel to earn anywhere between $100 and $2,000 for each correct letter appearance, with the option to buy vowels for $100 in order to solve the puzzle. Also up for grabs are two special prize tokens.

For contestants who can solve the third puzzle, a bonus round is played. The contestant chooses are category and the puzzle is displayed with all instance of R, S, T, L, N, and E revealed, with the contestant then choosing three more consonants and another vowel, which are also revealed. The contestant then has 10 seconds to solve the puzzle, winning a bonus prize if successful.

The contestant with most total money then gets the chance to play one final round, similar to the first, with a special wheel spun to determine the total prize won.

Host Graham Norton, who also hosts the UK version of the series, keeps things moving as we get to know a little about each contestant and they try to solve the puzzles. Although filmed in the UK to utilise their set, all contestants are Australian ex-pats.

It’s a bit of nostalgic fun this summer as you test your word skills every week.
