The Test Season 2 Review

The Test Season 2 Review

Amazon broke into the local market with its first Australian production, The Test, in 2020, and now they’re back for a second innings.

The Test: A New Era For Australia’s Team focused on Australia’s national sporting heroes – the Australian men’s cricket team – in a time of turmoil following the ball-tampering scandal of 2018, and the appointment of Justin Langer as coach.

It was a break-out success, leading to the release of a second season on Friday, following the team during the 2021-22 season.

The 4-part documentary chronicles the team after the departures of Time Paine as captain and Justin Langer as coach. They face off against arch-rivals England, break a two-decade-long spell of not playing cricket in Pakistan, and duel Sri Lanka in the middle of anti-government protests.

Just like in the first season, we are given unprecedented access to the playing group, seeing interviews with Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Alex Carey, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland, Usman Khawaja, Cameron Green, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne, which offer insights into their personal lives along the way.

Totalling 3 hours in length, the second season hits another six as it delivers another compelling watch and offers an insight into the team as the Pat Cummins era begins.

4 Stars.

Season 2 of The Test is now streaming on Prime Video
