The Outsider comes to Fox Showcase next month

The gripping new HBO drama series The Outsider, based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel of the same name begins next month on Fox Showcase

The 10-episode psychological thrillerstarring Australia’s own Emmy and Golden Globe-nominee Ben Mendelsohn and a stellar supporting cast, explores the investigation into the murder of a young boy and the mysterious force surrounding the case.

When 11-year-old Frankie Peterson’s body is found mutilated in the Georgia woods, police detective Ralph Anderson (Mendelsohn) sets out to investigate – with eyewitnesses and physical evidence pointing to Terry Maitland (Jason Bateman), a popular high school teacher, Little League coach, doting husband and father.

While the case appears ironclad, Ralph is baffled by the emergence of contradictory evidence that places his suspect in a neighbouring city at the time of the murder. The mysterious set of circumstances surrounding this horrifying crime leads Ralph, a seasoned cop still grieving the recent death of his own son, to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney (Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo), whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable.

The Outsider meticulously reveals a spine-chilling series of twists that leads Ralph and Holly to question everything they believe to be real, as an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case.

The incredible ensemble cast also includes Bill Camp (Emmy nominee, The Night Of) as Terry’s lawyer Howie Salomon; Mare Winningham (Oscar nominee, Georgia) as Ralph’s wife Jeannie; Yul Vázquez (Divorce) as Georgia Bureau of Investigation detective Yunis Sablo; Jeremy Bobb (The Knick) as Alec Pelley, a private investigator hired by Howie; and Marc Menchaca (The Sinner) as detective Jack Hoskins.

The Outsider starts express from the US on Monday, January 13 at 1.00pm AEDT, streaming on Foxtel and screening on FOX SHOWCASE.
