Bake off fans are about to get a new international version *next week with The Great Canadian Bake Off.
Hosted by Dan Levy of Schitt’s Creek fame and Julia Chan with judges Canadian-Australian pastry chef Rochelle Adonis and French- born Canadian chef Bruno Feldeisen, The Great Canadian Bake Off brings together ten passionate amateur bakers from across Canada. Each contestant is put through themed culinary challenges that celebrate their diverse backgrounds, families and communities, in a spirited competition that celebrates personal achievement and the joy of baking.
Adapted from ‘The Great British Bake Off’ and filmed in the iconic white tent, each episode sets out to find the very best over-all competitor in a series of three challenging rounds, the technical bake, the signature bake and the showstopper. Judges Rochelle Adonis and Bruno Feldeisen taste and critique the entries, they determine which contestant is crowned each week’s “Star Baker” and which contestant will be sent home.
Over the course of the series the bakers tackle a different baking skill, which become progressively more difficult as the competition unfolds and follows the trials and tribulations of the competitors, young and old as they attempt to prove their baking prowess, culminating with the final three bakers competing to be named the winner of The Great Canadian Bake Off and take home the ‘cake stand’.
