The Equalizer heads to Wednesday on Nine

A former CIA operative turned crime-fighting vigilante – with a twist – sets the stage for the action-packed reimagining of the 1980s classic, The Equalizer coming to Nine this week.

Oscar nominee Queen Latifah stars as the formidable Robyn McCall in this modern remake, stepping into shoes previously filled by Edward Woodward in the original television series and Denzel Washington in the film franchise.

McCall, single mother to a teenage daughter by day, fights crimes of injustice for the underprivileged and marginalised by night.

The series explores the way the justice system works throughout different communities, particularly those overlooked due to race, class and socio-economic status. Assisting McCall in her crusade for justice and equality is a band of misfits, including computer hacker Harry Keshegian (Adam Goldberg), former Air Force sniper Melody Bayani (Liza Lapira) and Sex and the City’s Chris Noth, as a former colleague from the CIA who now runs a private investigation firm.

McCall has her work cut out as she adapts to civilian life and the task of raising her daughter after long periods of unexplained absences, while cloaking her persona as a vigilante fearlessly fighting crime undercover.
Wednesday, February 24, at 9.00pm on Nine
