The Burbs Review

Today Binge kicks off the much-anticipated series The Burbs.

When we begin, new parents Samira (Keke Palmer) and Rob (Jack Whitehall), with their son Miles, have just moved to Rob’s childhood home in Hinckley Hills, to a cul-de-sac where everyone knows everyone.

Samira quickly befriends the widowed Lynn (Julia Duffy), former Marine Dana (Paula Pell), and the quiet Tod (Mark Proksch). The quartet enjoy a wine night, and a mystery soon brings some excitement to the evening when the old Victorian estate goes up for sale and a creepy new neighbour, Gary (Justin Kirk), moves in.

Are Samira’s instincts about the mystery correct, or is she just being paranoid?

Palmer and Whitehall have a chemistry that draws you in as the secrets of the cul-de-sac come to life. The supporting cast, too, are clearly having a blast, like Kapil Talwalkar who plays Rob’s childhood best friend Naveen.

Showrunner Celeste Hughey and the team take the 80s cult classic film and give it a refresh for 2026, with a few surprising tweaks that sustain through the 8-episode season.

It’s a mystery worth tuning into to try and solve.
