The Block starts Building

The Block this year is in Daylesford, a beautiful country town about an hour and 20 minutes from Melbourne.

Scott Cam is back for another year hosting the show and he explains the new site of The Block is just two minutes from the center of Daylesford.

The audience are given a sneak peak of what to come. It’s the happiest place on earth on The Block, but just wait until week eight.

We meet our contestants in what is the 21st series of The Block.

Emma and Ben, a married couple from Victoria. Emma is a pole dancing instructor while Ben just left his job as an engineer.

Robby and Mat, best friends from Adelaide. Robby is a barber, and Mat is a hairdresser.

Sonny and Alicia, a married couple from the Gold Coast. Sonny is a plumber, while Alicia works as a dental practice manager.

Han and Can, a couple from Perth. Han is a mining professional while Can works in social media.

And, Britt and Taz, married from Newman in Western Australia. Both are police officers in Newman.

This year our contestants will live in Titanium caravans on The Block. There are also strict rules, no more overnighters.

The houses are all exactly the same in size and layout, so it will be up to the contestants to show their creativity and initiative when it comes to styling and choices to really stand out.

To decide what house they get, our contestants have to build a float that will be front and centre in the annual Daylesford Chillhout parade, in front of judges Shaynna Blaze, Marty Fox and Darren Palmer.

It’s a fun challenge and some of the contestants shine, and some of them struggle.

In the end the judges were very impressed with Britt and Taz and they take out the win and choose House No.3.

Emma and Ben come in second and choose House No.1.

Robby and Mat are third and choose House No.5.

Han and Can come in fourth and choose House No.2 and they are devastated. They had their heart set on every other house but House No.2. There are some early Block meltdowns as Han struggles with their house choice.

Sonny and Alicia come in fifth and get House No.4, and they promise to make the most of it.

The whole schedule is revealed as well as suggested budgets, and our contestants learn they are building a bathroom this week.

The consults start with Beacon and Reece, and Han and Can have a tough time choosing tiles.

The Block has started with a bang
