Last night The Block made TV History in a finale where everyone made a profit.
The series was won by Melbourne’s Darren and Deanne Jolly whose apartment sold in the third auction of the night for a massive $2,229,000. The price was $835,000 over reserve – the largest sum over reserve of all four apartments – which means the Jollys not only take home this profit, but also an additional $100,000 in prizemoney as winners of the series.
In second place were Sydney’s Josh Terrett and Charlotte Ekas. In the final auction of the night, the youngest couple from this series came close to clinching the winners’ prize when their north-facing apartment sold for $2,200,000, netting them a profit of $810,000 over their reserve.
Tim and Anastasia Ielasi claimed third place when, in the first auction of the night, their apartment sold for $2,175,000, earning a whopping $755,000 profit for the Adelaide couple.
Gold Coast couple Jess and Ayden Hogan were also rewarded with a life-changing sum of money, when their apartment sold under the hammer for an even $2,000,000. They walk away with a very tidy $665,000 for their efforts.
A staggering total of $3,1650,000 was taken home by the four couples who have spent the past three months toiling day and night to transform a drab 1970s block of flats into luxurious three-bedroom apartments.
The windfall represents the highest sum of money 0ever won on a single episode of television anywhere in the world.
The Block will return to Nine later this year with an 11th season.
