Taj topples out as final three revealed on DWTS

Ricki-Lee, Lynne McGranger and David Rodan have booked a place in the Grand Final after wowing the judges with not one but two dances

For the first time, the judges stepped out from behind the desk to mentor one couple each. The judges did not score their own couple in round one – leaving the stars with a score out of 30.

Dance floor dominator David  won round one with the first perfect score of the series. Mentored by his harshest critic Todd McKenney, the AFL star wowed the judges with his contemporary routine. “It was fabulous,” Helen Richey said.

Dancing the Argentine Tango, Tai was guided by the lady of the ballroom Helen. After a rollercoaster ride in the competition, the Home and Away hot shot was on a high again with 29 points, including two perfects 10s. “That dance was incredible,” Kym Johnson said. “It was so passionate and romantic. I was blown away.”

Summer Bay’s leading lady Lynne brought the crowd to their feet with a sassy Salsa, earning 28 points from the judges. Her movie-star mentor Adam Garcia said: “That was better than I could ever have imagined.”

Ballroom bombshell Ricki-Lee – who was first on the leaderboard last week – impressed with her energetic Quickstep, scoring 27 points. Mentored by Kym, the singer had the other judges raving. “When you perform live, you just light up,” Adam said. “You have that star quality.”

In round two, our four semi-finalists danced to new styles. Ricki-Lee took on Broadway to score 37. Tai tackled Urban and walked away with 36 points. Lynne made the Charleston her own, receiving 35 points. But the night belonged to David, who blew everyone away with a high-energy Bollywood routine that earned him another perfect score. “Is there anything you can’t do?” Adam said.

Despite finishing first and second, David and Tai found themselves in the bottom two Dancing for ygap, Tai described his experience as a whirlwind. “I never expected to get this far. I’ve made life-long friends. I couldn’t have asked for more.”

The final scores:

DAVID RODAN & MELANIE HOOPER – 30 + 40 = 70

TAI HARA & JORJA FREEMAN – 29 + 36 = 65

RICKI-LEE & JARRYD BYRNE – 27 + 37 = 64

LYNNE McGRANGER & CARMELO PIZZINO – 28 + 35 = 63
