Seven has released it’s brodacast plan for the anual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race on Boxing Day.
The largest contingent of new, old, large and small yachts in over 10 years will assemble on Boxing Day to contest the 70th Sydney Hobart Yacht Race LIVE on Channel 7.
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has announced that 119 entries have been received, meaning there will be three start lines and a breathtaking scene on Sydney Harbour for the start of the race. Five super maxis, 10 international entries, previous overall and line winners, old timers, record breaking boats and people will all be part of this gruelling and picturesque event.
Two-time treble crown winner and reigning record holder and line honours champion, Wild Oats XI will be back vying for line honours. Perpetual Loyal (formerly Rambler) will be back too aiming to cement its reputation as the fastest super maxi in the world. Wild Oats XI, along with Jim Clark and Kristy Hinze’s brand new Comanche will have Seven’s on-boat cameras for the start of the telecast.
Comanche will bring something of an ‘x factor’ to this year’s event, having been recently launched in New England in October, Clark has shipped his brand new 100 foot, Ken Read skippered yacht straight to Sydney.
This stunning international event will host boats from around the world including Germany, the Unites States, the United Kingdom, Poland, New Zealand and the Caymen Islands.
The telecast will be hosted by Mark Beretta with expert commentary from a veteran of 31 Sydney to Hobart Yacht races Peter Shipway.
