Produced by Shaftesbury in association with Crave, Boss & Co and PageBoy Productions, the 10-episode, half-hour mockumentary follows a lovable queer slo-pitch softball team and their determined coach as they attempt to turn years of losing into a winning season.
Starring Jess Salgueiro (The Boys), Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek), Karen Knox (Barbelle), Gwenlyn Cumyn (Barbelle) and Emma Hunter (Hate the Player: The Ben Johnson Story), Slo Pitch throws viewers into the unpredictable world of recreational sport, where friendships are tested, rivalries run deep and heartbreak is never far from the dugout.I
In Slo Pitch, Joanne Pico (Salgueiro) coaches six-time league losers, ‘The Public Lass Brovaries’ and is determined to turn the team’s fortunes around after being dumped by her girlfriend and team co-founder. As the season unfolds, Joanne and her chaotic crew navigate petty rivalries, questionable sponsors, disastrous fundraising schemes and the ultimate challenge: facing her ex on a rival team.
The series also stars Chelsea Muirhead, Lane Webber, Khadijah Roberts-Abdullah and Amanda Cordner, with guest appearances from Varun Saranga, Laura De Carteret, Don MacLean Jr., Nadine Bhabha, Carolyn Taylor, Chris Locke, Chris Sandiford and Japanese softball superstar Ayami Sato, the first woman to play in a Canadian men’s professional baseball league.
Created by J Stevens, Karen Knox and Gwenlyn Cumyn, Slo Pitch is based on the acclaimed short-form series of the same name and was developed for television by Katie Ford and Jane Cooper Ford. The series is executive produced by Elliot Page for PageBoy Productions and Emily Hampshire, alongside producers from Shaftesbury.
