Showcase to air Sharp Objects in July

HBO’s new psychological thriller series Sharp Objects, starring five-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams and based on the novel of the same name by bestselling author Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl), will premiere on Foxtel in July.

Based on the book of the same name by The New York Times bestselling author Flynn, the series tells the story of reporter Camille Preaker (Adams) who returns to her small hometown of Wind Gap, Missouri to cover the murders of two young girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.

Sharp Objects co-stars Patricia ClarksonChris Messina, Elizabeth PerkinsMatt Craven and young Australian actress Eliza Scanlen (Home and Away) in her breakout role as Adams’ 13- year-old half-sister, Amma.

The series is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Big Little Lies) from scripts by Gillian Flynn and Marti Noxon. Executive producers are Jason Blum, Charles Layton and Jessica Rhoades, as well as Amy Adams, Gillian Flynn, Marti Noxon, Jean-Marc Vallée, Nathan Ross and Gregg Fienberg.

Sharp Objects will be available to stream on demand and will also screen on Foxtel’s showcase, with a primetime encore at 8.30pm AEST on July 9.
