Shark Tank Coming to Ten in 2015

Ten are offering up something new next year.

What do the refrigerator, solar hot water, the black box flight recorder, wine casks, Google maps, the bionic ear, electric drills and the clapperboard have in common?
They were all invented by Australians and are just some of the amazing products that have made Australia one of the most inventive and ingenious countries in the world.

Network Ten will turn the spotlight on the next generation of great Australian ideas – and their inventors – with its new event television series, Shark Tank.
What will be the next great Australian invention? And who has the potential to become Australia’s next millionaire entrepreneur?

Every week, Australian innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs from all walks of life will present their ideas, products and visions to a panel of our best and brightest entrepreneurial multi-millionaires, affectionately known as the “Sharks”.

The Sharks will be some of Australia’s best known and most successful business people. They will analyse and debate the ideas and the inventors. Each week, the Sharks will choose the best ideas and invest their own money to help the inventors turn dreams into reality.

Based on the highly successful format from Sony Pictures Television that has captivated and inspired audiences in more than two dozen territories worldwide, Shark Tank is a show that gives inventors a way to turn their great ideas and dreams into great businesses.

Network Ten Chief Programming Officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “Australians are among the greatest entrepreneurs in the world and the list of globally successful products that have been invented here is staggering.

“The Australian version of Shark Tank will be an accessible, compelling and highly entertaining show that will appeal to all age groups. Viewers will be captivated by the passion, enthusiasm and drive of our inventors – and by the incredible ideas they will present to our Sharks.

“We will announce the Sharks soon. Like the inventors, the Sharks will bring their passion, enthusiasm and drive – plus their cash – to Shark Tank, along with their years of experience and success and a powerful desire to help find the next great Australian success story,” she said.
Shark Tank will be produced for Network Ten by Shine Australia.

Shine Australia CEO, Mark Fennessy, said: “This unique, smash hit format is a sensational project for Shine. It will be a feeding frenzy for viewers as ambitious entrepreneurs present breakthrough concepts to the Sharks – potentially becoming Australia’s next generation of millionaires. We look forward to working with Network Ten to bring Shark Tank to life.”

Since it launched in 2009, the US version of Shark Tank has consistently increased its audience there every year among total viewers. A sixth season of the Emmy Award-winning series will debut in the US on September 26.

Shark Tank will premiere on Ten in 2014.
