The Week of September 13 is shaping up to be a huge night of TV.
Starting at 7pm will be a brand new season of the X Factor with new judges it has certainly guaranteed that it will get off to a good start. It will presumably also air on Monday and Tuesday nights but that is yet to be confirmed.
Created by the world’s most powerful media identity, Simon Cowell, The X Factor is one of the hottest television franchises around the globe. This year, the show welcomes two internationally acclaimed entertainers to the judging panel. British singing superstar James Blunt and American icon Chris Isaak join homegrown heroes Dannii Minogue and Guy Sebastian, who returns after a two-year break.
Last year, The X Factor discovered 15-year-old Marlisa Punzalan, who wowed Australia with her amazing voice. The X Factor is unparalleled when it comes to producing superstars having launched the careers of Dami Im, Samantha Jade, Nathaniel Willemse, Reece Mastin, Johnny Ruffo and Taylor Henderson.
The X Factor is open to both solo performers and groups 14 years and over. Once hopefuls make it past the initial audition process, the four judges mentor the performers as they are split into the following categories: Boys Under 25, Girls Under 25, Over 25s and Groups. The ultimate winner is awarded a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.
Peter Alllen Not The Boy Next Door will follow at 8:30pm and conclude a week later on September 20.
Not The Boy Next Door tells the rollercoaster story of Australian entertainer, Peter Allen, who went from being a childhood performer in country NSW to a Grammy and Academy Award- winning songwriter and the toast of Broadway, marrying into Hollywood royalty along the way.
Peter is best known for his signature song ‘I Go To Rio’, the ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ and ‘Tenterfield Saddler’, a . He also co-wrote the huge commercial chart hits ‘I Honestly Love You’, ‘Don’t Cry Out Loud’ and ‘Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)’.
The miniseries stars Joel Jackson (Deadline Gallipoli) as Peter Allen, Rebecca Gibney (Winter, Packed To The Rafters) as Peter’s mum Marion Woolnough, Sara West (Winter, ANZAC Girls) as Peter’s one-time wife and lifelong friend Liza Minnelli, Nick Farnell (Charles Bean’s Great War, Killing Time) as Peter’s father Dick Woolnough, Henri Szeps (Mother and Son) as Peter’s agent Dee Anthony and musical theatre star Rob Mills as Peter’s singing partner Chris Bell; with Sigrid Thornton (Underbelly: The Golden Mile, SeaChange) as screen legend Judy Garland and 14-year-old newcomer Ky Baldwin as young Peter Woolnough.
Meanwhile on Monday September 14 The Chase will finally debut at 5pm with Andrew O’Keefe,taking on the hosting role.
The Chase is a race where players must ensure they stay one step ahead of the Chaser, some of the finest quiz brains in Australia. The Chasers are: The Governess, Supernerd, The Shark and Goliath.
Hosted by Andrew O’Keefe, contestants must answer general knowledge questions and play their tactics right in order to get themselves in the Final Chase, where they could win thousands of dollars.
However, standing in their way is their common enemy, the Chaser, a supremely, self-confident quiz genius. They will chase contestants down the board in a tense and thrilling test of knowledge to try to catch them and throw them out of the game.
Four contestants will face a sequence of quick-fire and multiple-choice question rounds to build up their cash pot, but if they allow the Chaser to catch up to them, they’re out of the game.
Working as a team, players who make it through to the Final Chase then unite one more time before their common enemy: the Chaser.
Stay ahead of the Chaser and they share the cash pot. Get caught and they lose the lot! Have they got what it takes to beat the Chaser?
