Schapelle sparkles as DWTS returns

The glamour, glitz and glory of Dancing With The Stars: All Stars has twirled and strutted its way onto Channel 7 and 7plus.

Tonight, we met all 14 celebrities, our beloved hosts Daryl Somers and Sonia Kruger, and our fabulous line-up of original judges: Helen Richey, Todd McKenney, Paul Mercurio and Mark Wilson.

With the stars divided into two groups over alternate nights, taking the stage tonight were former TV presenter turned property partner Tom Williams, former Home and Away star Bec Hewitt, actor Lincoln Lewis, TV presenter and interior designer Kyly Clarke, TV and radio personality Matty J, radio star Fifi Box and former SAS Australia recruit Schapelle Corby.

Returning to the ballroom arena after 16 years and opening the series with a bang was Tom Williams, who performed a powerful tango in his all-black leather ensemble and scored a total of 28.

Kyly Clarke top-scored with 33 points thanks to a highly electric jive to Candyman that Todd Mckenney said was “incredible, absolutely incredible”. Hot on Kyly’s feet was Bec Hewitt, who scored a 31 for her beautiful foxtrot, leaving Paul Mercurio a little “teary” and feeling goosebumps.

Lincoln Lewis burst onto the dance floor as a ball of energy, dancing the quickstep. With a lot of talent and a mountain of enthusiasm, Lincoln’s performance proved he is back to win this competition.

Tonight we welcomed two of our wildcards Matty J and Schapelle Corby, who took to the ballroom dance floor for the very first time, impressing the judges with their steps, technique and character.

Matty scored a 23 for his cha cha, while Schapelle faced her nerves with the Viennese waltz. Blown away, Todd reassured Schapelle that she, in fact, “can dance” despite his anxieties that she would be “crap”.

Sadly, tonight Fifi Box’s cha cha to Murder On The Dancefloor saw judges criticise her routine for being “messy” and “missing the mark”. As a result, Fifi placed at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 22, leaving us to say goodbye to our first eliminated celebrity.

The final scores tonight were:

Kyly Clarke and Gustavo Viglio – 33

Bec Hewitt and Craig Monley – 31

Lincoln Lewis and Lily Cornish – 29

Tom Williams and Alex Vladimirov – 28

Schapelle Corby and Shae Mountain – 26

Matty J and Ruby Gherbaz – 23

Fifi Box and Jeremy Garner – 22
