Binge kicked off 2026 with new Aussie drama Run.
Run tells the story of Brendon Abbott (George Mason), a smart and charming individual who we first meet behind bars. As he gets a visit from his girlfriend Jackie (Ashleigh Cummins), a riot quickly breaks out.
Flashback to the events that landed him in gaol, we find Brendon pulling off a meticulously planned bank robbery in Belmont, Perth, that will allow them to build their dream life together.
The crime is a success, until the story hits the nightly news and Brendon’s mother Thelma (Robyn Malcolm), immediately recognises her son’s handiwork. And she’s far from thrilled as his brother Glenn (David Howell) idolises him.
Naturally, it isn’t long before Brendon’s crime catches up with him, with more time added to his sentence because of the riot. But he isn’t going to serve any more time – he’s breaking out. On the run, the chase in on when someone dobs him in.
Detective Gary Poter (Keiynan Lonsdale) is determined to catch Brendon after he traumatised Nola (Julie Nhill) at the first robbery. But the task isn’t easy as Brendon moves from state to state, setting up a life on the run.
Writers Matt Cameron, Anthony Hayes, Sarah Walker, and Scout Cripps deliver a drama that plays with time but holds your attention thanks to a magnetic performance from Mason as we follow Brendon over the period of five years.
Go on the run in this must-watch summer binge.
