Later this month River Cottage Austrialia wiill return to Foxtel with a few changes.
Now in its fourth season, the River Cottage Australia farm is a hive of activity that’s bursting with new life and possibility, so it’s time to look to the future and spread the River Cottage word.
This year Paul West has welcomed many eager cooks and wannabe-farmers to the property to share his knowledge and teach them how to live the River Cottage lifestyle through cooking and growing their own produce.
But it’s not just visitors to the farm that Paul’s welcomed, he also became a first-time Dad to son, Otto, so to help run the farm and the Cooking School he’s taken on an apprentice, a local guy named, Harrison.
This season Paul’s looking at ways to future proof the farm and the theme of food security will be intertwined across the season. With that in mind, he’s taking the River Cottage Australia message on the road to discover new regions, meet and learn from farmers and producers who share his passion in improving food security by boosting long-term agricultural productivity.
Paul will use the knowledge he’s gained as a chef, and with the help of mates, create a mobile Food Van. He’ll tow the van across the Snowy Mountains and into Canberra and down to the Riverina Region of NSW. Along the way, he’ll visit farms, producers, markets and cook for his new friends with the produce his caught and gathered along the way, all the time learning new skills to bring back to his own farm in Central Tilba.
This season Paul also tackles the issue of food waste and how to make the most of our food with the great people at Oz Harvest. Foxtel and The LifeStyle Channel will also be pledging their support to reduce food waste by donating a meal to someone in need for every full view of episode 1 of River Cottage Australia season 4 on-line in the week before broadcast, March 21 – 28.
