Tonight Seven begins a fresh season of the much-loved Australia drama RFDS.
When we last left the staff of Broken Hill’s Royal Flying Doctor Service, nurse Pete (Stephen Peacocke) had been suspended from practicing medicine.
Now we pick up a year later, with Pete having hidden himself away in Adelaide as he tries to earn back his right to perform medicine. In that time, a lot has happened for his former colleagues.
Eliza (Emma Hamilton) feels deeply at home in the community and is enjoying a new relationship with local Fire & Rescue Officer Ryan (Rick Davies). Meanwhile Wayne (Rob Collins) and Mira (Ash Ricardo) are attempting to balance their duties as new parents with demanding careers.
Pete soon finds himself having an unlikely reunion with the RFDS team when the bus he is on crashes. With many life-threatening injuries, Eliza is forces to make a horrible decision of who to save and who to leave behind, and the repercussions will leave lasting scars on the community and team.
Co-creator Ian Meadows sets the stage for another exciting season ahead, with the fallout of this first episode reverberating throughout the entire season.
RFDS airs Wednesdays at 7:30pm on Seven.
