Reacher Review

This week, Amazon unveils its next big book-to-screen adaptation with Reacher.

For those who haven’t heard of Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson), he is a veteran military police investigation who had just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When he arrives in the small town of Margrave, he sits down at a diner to eat only to be arrested for murder.

A body has been discovered and it turns out that Reacher was apparently seen near the crime scene. While he works to prove his innocence, he meets Detective Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin) who is overseeing case with the help of officer Roscoe (Willia Fitzgerald). As the series unfolds, it becomes clear that Reacher is drawn into a conspiracy theory that only he can solve.

An adaptation of Lee Child’s best-selling novel The Killing Floor, Nick Santora delivers an extremely faithful adaptation full of action sequences and intriguing characters. It’s definitely hard not to binge this one.

Alan Ritchson is perfectly cast as Jack Reacher, and it’s a compelling watch as he shows both sides of a complex character. This adaptation is one that fans will not be disappointed with.

“Waiting is a skill like anything else.” So don’t wait to watch this one.

5 Stars

Reacher premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Friday.
