Last week Prime Video released its newest family film with Playdate.

In Playdate we meet Brian (Kevin James), an unemployed forensic accountant now in the role of stay-at-home dad to his young stepson Lucas (Benjamin Pajak), allowing his wife Emily (Sarah Chalke) to return to the workforce.

Brian takes Lucas to the park to bond over ballsports, and here they meet Mama Mafia, led by Leslie (Isla Fisher), and father-son duo Jeff (Alan Ritchson) and CJ (Banks Pierce), who wing footballs at each other.

The two quickly become entangled, and on the top they organise a playdate. Jumping into the Jeff’s van, this is when the chaos well and truly begins.

Turns out, Jeff is on the run, and over the course of the films 93 minutes, we learn about the why and the who.

Ritchson gets to show off his comedic side and James naturally finds his place as no stranger to the genre. The kids too give decent performances.

Playdate is a fun film which is best enjoyed with the whole family and a big bowl of popcorn.
