The Semi Finals for My Kitchen Rules are here and last night saw the first one take place.
Pat and Bianca took on Ibby and Romel for the first grand final spot. Judges Pete and Manu were joined by Colin Fassnidge and guest judges Karen Martini, Guy Grossi and Liz Egan to taste and score each team’s entire menu out of 10. The team with the lowest total score would be eliminated.
The Menus were as follows
Ibby & Romel
Entrée: Lebanese Chicken Liver with Pickles and Saj
Main: Samke Harra (Trout with Fennel Cream and Dukkah)
Dessert: Pistachio Frangipane Tart with Halva Ice Cream
Pat & Bianca
Entrée: Seared Scallops with Cauliflower Puree and Salsa Fresca
Main: Osso Bucco with Polenta
Dessert: Zabaione with Roasted Pear
When it came to tasting Ibby & Romel wowed with their sous vide technique and modern Middle Eastern flavours wowed the judges more than Pat & Bianca’s traditional take on some Italian classics. An overcooked osso bucco lacking in sauce had a huge impact on the scores.
Ibby and Romel scored 48/60 while Pat and Bianca scored 42/60
