Nine will again screen Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve
Since it was first held in 1938, Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight has become a much-loved Christmas Eve institution where Australia’s top entertainers come together to perform a mix of contemporary and traditional carols in a spectacle that again promises to be as vibrant and captivating as ever.
Families, friends and loved ones will gather in the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and around TV screens across the nation to share in the magic of the season.
The performers include Anthony Callea who this year will celebrate his 10-year anniversary at Carols.
Joining him on stage will be The Voice’s Harrison Craig, Rachel Leahcar and Darren Percival, along with long-time favourites Marina Prior, Denis Walter, Silvie Paladino, David Hobson and Tim Campbell, with many more big names to be announced soon.
This year we welcome a new hosting combination, with the Nine Network’s Lisa Wilkinson joining singer David Campbell. It will be Wilkinson’s sixth year in a row as co-host of Carols by Candlelight. Campbell has made six Carols appearances and this year is his first as co-host.
“For me, it’s truly been a privilege each occasion I’ve been asked to take part in this very special event. Co-hosting with Lisa will make this Carols the best yet for me,” Campbell said.
“There’s something magical about looking out across the Bowl and seeing a sea of candles swaying in unison while the combined choirs are singing the Hallelujah Chorus,” Wilkinson said.
Proceeds from the night will go towards Vision Australia’s Children’s Services, which provide vital training and resources to enable children who are blind or have low vision to increase their choices and reach their full potential in life.
