Tonight, Neighbours serves up a very delicious return in a twist that no one in Erinsborough will see coming.
When she arrived on Friday, Finn’s mother Claudia (Kate Raison) was back in Erinsborough in search of answers, with the Kennedy clan tense about seeing her again. Claudia was sympathetic and apologetic about the actions of her son, but the final moments of the episode saw a twist when she called a lawyer.
In tonight’s episode, after getting an update on the case against Elly (Jodi Anasta) from Mark (Scott McGregor) and Sky (Stephanie McIntosh), Claudia meets her new lawyer, and someone with her own history with the Kenendy family, Samantha Fitzgerald (Simone Buchanan).
Longtime fans will remember Samantha as Daniel Fitzgerald’s (Brett Tucker) first wife, who caused tension between Dan and girlfriend Libby Kennedy (Kym Valentine). Samantha then returned during Steph Scully’s (Carla Bonner) trial for the death of Ringo Brown (Sam Clark). Her history with the Kennedy family is just what Claudia is looking for.
Fans won’t have to wait long for Claudia’s true motives for returning to Erinsborough to be revealed, with everything starting to fall into place during tonight’s episode. It’s a rocky road ahead for Elly and the entire Kennedy family. Just what does Claudia want and why has Sam returned to help her? Watch out Ramsay Street, things are about to turn very ugly.
It’s nice to see the producers continuing to dip back into the past during this 35th anniversary year, and Sam’s return is certainly going to propel the current storyline forward well.
