NCIS: Sydney Season 2 Review

NCIS: Sydney Season 2 Review

Today Paramount+ premiered the newest season of its popular original NCIS: Sydney.

When we wrapped season 1, the final episode ended with the mysterious Anna Neimus (Georgina Haig) escaping NCIS custody after JD (Todd Lasance) broke her out when a clown kidnapped his son. In a twist none of the team expected, Anna ended up killing the clown, prompting JD to call the only contact on the kidnapper’s phone – revealed to be Colonel Rankin (Lewis Fitz-Gerald) in the closing moments of the season.

Season 2 begins where the first season left off, except for a small flash-forward to a funeral. With JD and Mackey’s (Olivia Swann) actions seeing them benched by Special Agent in Charge Ken Carter (Bert La Bonte), who arrives from Singapore, a reluctant DeShawn (Sean Sagar) it now put in charge of the team. Carter delivers a clear and loud ultimatum – recapture Neimus or there’s hell to pay for the team.

It’s up to Constable Evie Cooper (Tuuli Narkle), forensic scientist Bluebird ‘Blue’ Gleeson (Mavournee Hazel), and forensic pathologist Dr Roy Penrose (William McInnes) to help get Neimus back in custody and ensure that the joint NCIS and AFP team continues to operate in Sydney. All the while, there’s new cases that still need to be investigated.

Morgan O’Neill gets the season off to a good start, and with time continues to add extra dimensions to these characters. There’s plenty of intriguing cases, from exploding cars, pirates, a body covered in concrete, and a trip to the NT, that are bound to keep fans engaged.

Just like a well-oiled machine, the second season of NCIS: Sydney improves on a stellar first season and continues to grow the NCIS legacy.
