Ten’s Rugby commentary team has a little bit of extra star power with Nathan Sharpe joining the team.
Sharpe, a former Wallabies captain and two-time John Eales Medallist, will provide expert analysis and will take to the field as sideline commentator throughout the game.
Ten Sport’s Matt White will host the rugby broadcast this year, flanked by former Wallaby and Ten Eyewitness News presenter Matt Burke, the voice of rugby Gordon Bray, rugby legend Nathan Sharpe and reporter Scott Mackinnon.
Commenting on his new association with Network Ten, Sharpe said: “I am really excited to be working with Network Ten alongside Matt, Burkey, Gordon and Scott. “My aim is to deliver interesting, insightful comments and a real understanding of the game from a forward’s perspective for viewers to enjoy. “From the sideline I will be able to read how the game is panning out and share it with the rest of the team, giving a good analysis of what’s happening up front – the important stuff that makes rugby union the game that it is,” he said.
Network Ten Head of Sport, David Barham, said: “The addition of Nathan Sharpe and Matt White to TEN’s rugby line-up this year ensures that our coverage will be better than ever as the Wallabies begin the journey to World Cup glory. “Nathan Sharpe has left an indelible impression on the game and his knowledge and understanding will bring an undeniably brilliant and fresh element to our broadcast.”
The team will commence official duties at Suncorp Stadium when the Wallabies take on the Springboks on July 18, followed by the Pumas on July 25 in Argentina and the Bledisloe Cup matches on August 8 and 15 at ANZ Stadium and Eden Park respectively.
